Subj: Scale practice was college auditions

For me, scale practice is essential in building solid technique. Besides
Baermann 3 and Jettle, I us a technique called "Add-a-note". Prof. Glenn
Bowen at UW-Madison taught this technique. What you do is start on the
tonic and as the name states just keep adding notes. You repeat the pattern
until it is perfectly even. You can start slow and speed up the pattern -
as long as it's even. For example:
G Maj -
G - A - G - A - G -A
G - A - B - A - G - A - B - A - G
G - A - B - C - B - A - G etc.

You can move this technique around to other areas of the scale or
run that you're having trouble with. This also works with arpeggios.
