Ed Lacy gave his step-by-step method for selecting a new mouthpiece -
I would add only one thing that is probably common sense, but I've
seen a lot of people not doing it: bring a couple of pieces of music
and play the same *short* section on all the mouthpieces. If there
is a particular problem/issue that you are trying to resolve with the
new mouthpiece, make sure the section brings that out.
