CALLING ALL CLARINETISTS!!!

ClarinetFest '97
July 9 - 13, 1997
Texas Tech University
Lubbock, Texas USA

Now is the time to make your plans to attend ClarinetFest '97, the annual
conference of the International Clarinet Association. I have been in Africa
playing concerts on an Artistic Ambassador tour for a little over a month
and have not had the opportunity until now to keep subscribers to Klarinet
updated on the final plans as they have taken shape.

If you have web search capabilities, be sure to check the ClarinetFest '97
homepage (address in my signature). We are confident that our full schedule
offers you opportunities that you will want to take advantage of.
Performing will be many of today's best known and most outstanding
performers as well as some legendary figures who many of us have not had
the opportunity to hear and meet. We have expanded the conference schedule
from past ClarinetFests, which gives you the opportunity to hear even more
renowned clarinetists, scholars, and researchers than ever before. Our
exhibit hall will be full of manufacturers from around the world who will
have products for you to test and examine. Many will have products with
which you are unfamiliar or newer versions of popular older products.

This is the most comprehensive and all-inclusive event for clarinetists
that will be held this year. The International Clarinet Association and
Texas Tech University sincerely hope you come to Lubbock this July and take
part in a truly Texas-Sized celebration of the clarinet.

Over the next several weeks leading up to the conference, I will be giving
ClarinetFest updates on KLARINET intended to advertise the big event.
However, I hope that these will not only spark an interest in the festival,
but also some interesting conversation on this bulletin board about some of
the artists that I will mention as well as the music they will perform. I
will send my first update on Monday, May 12.

If you have any questions, please contact me directly and my assistants,
Sheri Slater and Jill Stewart, and I will do whatever we can to assist you.

C-U-N July!

Bob Walzel

PS-Is there any interest in having some type of KLARINET gathering at
ClarinetFest '97 so that we might have the chance to meet each other in
person?
