In reply to sight reading...try playing only the notes on the down beats
all the way through a rhythmically difficult etude (to sound quarter
notes in 4/4...) then downbeats and 'ands'. This helped my students eyes
learn to continue even when they make mistakes in reading. Obviously
this does not address grasping patterns, or learning to read ahead, but
it seemed to help. Lori Lovato
