As a practicing physician, I'll have to add my 2 cents about carpal
tunnel syndrome, trying to not go too far off subject. Surgery for
carpal tunnel syndrome is probably one of the most successful operations
there is, as far as success rates, and low complication rates. Be
careful that it is correctly diagnosed.......usually simply by nerve
conduction velocity tests. Since the surgery is decompression of an
impinged median nerve, when done properly, 100% recovery should be
expected. I would have your student see a qualified hand orthopedic
surgeon.
