Here here, Chris! Three cheers for a stimulating "tangent" to the
inane and contextually irrelevant thread on marching bands. Your
question concerning innovations in clarinet design versus their
relative emphasis in pedagogy is of great value. Hopefully one
of our historically inclined members will be able to shed some
light on the quandary you propose. Does the Rubank method have
a section where one is taught to jump from clarion G to Bb using
the forked fingering rather than the side key?
