I'm still trying to select a piece for my upcoming (next fall) concerto
competition, and I've pretty much narrowed it down to the Finzi or
the Manevich. I think I'm leaning toward the Finzi, but I don't know
how well either of these pieces typically goes over with competition
juries. I was wondering if anyone has either first or secondhand
knowledge of this. (I considered the Hindemith Concerto as well,
but I have it on what I consider reliable authority that juries typically
don't like this piece because they consider the slow movement to be
too long.) Anyway, any opinions and insights would be much appreciated.

Thanks,
