I actually hadn't thought of that. It is a very good idea, providing the
adult student has access to a music shop that he or she can trust, or
perhaps a knowledgable teacher or friend that can check out the instrument.
I was under the impression that the originator of the thread had neither,
because they
sounded so confused in the first place. Weiner and WW&BW do sell top-line
used models.
