I also play on an R-13, which is about four years old. I use a
thick-walled Accubore (the donut-shaped one, not the heat sink model).
The barrel darkens the overall tone somewhat, so it blends better. My
mouthpiece is a Greg Smith. The combination gives great flexibility and
intonation. I've also played on a Yamaha professional Eb, which also is
good, at less money. Be prepared to spend more that on a Bb, though.
