Reedman2, that type of work should be done in a shop where there is a
qualified woodman repairman. A "shade-tree" repairman might do damage to the
bore. As far as the effect on the tone of the instrument it tends to
brighten it somewhat. I surely don't suggest doing it to an instrument that
tends to be on the bright side to begin with.
