Further thoughts, one humorous (sort of) the other more serious.

1) maybe clarinet players need something like brass players, some sort of
drain plug/valve that can be opened periodically to blow out or shake out
saliva. By the way, does anyone have any luck with placing your mouth over
a hole area and blowing to temporarily clear a clog?

2) if polishing/sealing helps what about using one of the HARD waxes. I
recall something like "cannuba" being a vegetable wax that comes in paste or
stick form. If something like this could be used to coat brush/swab
and used to burnish the insides it would avoid the problem with liquiid oils
of seeping through the holes and ruining pads, messing up the outside of
the instrument.
