I have an amusing story about one of my performances of this trio. I
played all eight of them in a small town in central New York state at a
local arts center. A "reviewer" (paid by the column inch!) from the local
paper came, and wrote a generally nice review. He noticed that 1.) I
swabbed constantly (it was January in a drafty old mansion/arts center),
though he didn't understand what I was doing, and 2.) that I alternated
clarinets. His comment was that my clarinets continually malfunctioned,
and had to be replaced with the other instrument!
