About an Edgeware Boosey & Hawkes - I bought one at a garage sale for
$40.00. A quick inspection revealed the body of the instrument and the keys
were all in good shape. I then took the clarinet to a local musical
instrument repair shop and paid $90.00 for a complete overhaul of the pads
etc. I have since added a B45 mouthpiece and a Rovner ligature. Now I know
this B&H Edgeware isn't a great instrument but it is good for rediscovering
the delight of clarinet playing after a number of decades of being away from
it!

One final point - I also had the repair shop give me an evaluation of this
clarinet and the result - it is worth about $300.00 (Canadian dollars - and
without the new mouthpiece or ligature).

Love to know how to get more value for my Edgeware on a trade in - and is
the $300.00 evaluation about right?

Cheers

Mine was a hopeless instrument (15mm bore, uncentered tone, wild intonation).
Not hopeful for your trade in search. I lucked out here in NYC. There's a
sucker born every minute and in New York the chances of running into one are
far greater than in your neck of the woods.

Keep it as a backup when your primary is in the shop. You got a good deal on
it.

My assesment is that $300 Canadian is just about right.

Sorry.
