Horsetails grow pretty bloody wild here too. ... The classic Dutch Rush
seems to be a different species from the ubiquitous E. arvense - E.
hyemale according to Lord Rob's citation. In England we also have a
relatively rare woodland species with very long stems?/fronds? I don't
know
anything about its abrasive qualities, but no doubt it contains SiO2 just
like other horsetails - or parsely, or just about any grass, etc., etc.
