This reminds of the time when I was on the national tour of "Gigi." My
clarinet cracked while I was in Washington state, 3500 miles away
from home. It was a non-equity tour, so of course, we were traveling
everyday. There was no chance of me leaving it in a local shop. If I
did, I'd be five states away by the time my clarinet is repaired. What
really sucked is that I never anticipated this, so I didn't have a spare.
I had to have my sister fed-ex my Bundy cross-country. I was playing on
that dog for a two weeks while my Buffet was in the shop back home in New
York. Those two weeks were miserable for me. I never realized how
inferior the Bundy was. Intonation was horrendous. Tone wasn't so great
either. UUGH!!! I was so excited to get my Buffet back. Suddenly my
playing and tone jumped 10 levels up. I have got go and get myself a
better spare.
