On the subject of Bass stands that will hold the instrument while you play
I agree with the person that suggested the Weight Lifter stand. I USED to
work in a music retail/mail order store and the Weight lifter stands that
were sold were never returned and the feedback I got from customers was
that it worked great. As far as I can remeber it was(is) the only stand
like that.

BTW they make the weight lifter stand for almost all woodwind instruments.
