Muslin cloth may work really well, I don't know. But silk swabs are very
soft and smooth and move through the clarinet much easier without getting
stuck. The silk also will not scratch the wooden bore like a cotton or
felt swab. Other swabs tend to get stuck in the instrument, damaging the
bore. (which we all know is VERY BAD!!!) Hope that answers your
question!!:)
