Several people have asked about finding local music groups to play in,
and I would like to direct them to a wonderful web site called
"Community Band and Orchestra Contact Info." The URL is
http://www.io.com/%7Erboerger/commgroups.html. There must be literally
hundreds of groups listed from all over the U.S., all over Canada, and
yes even all over the world (including Europe, Oz, even as far as Lima,
Peru). It's very well run, is regularly updated, and provides
on-the-spot info on the groups and who to contact. You can easily add
your own group to the list, which I would strongly encourage list
subscribers to do - it could help your own groups.

One other unrelated thing - I was a bit taken aback to see that Alfred
Prinz - yes THAT Alfred Prinz, recently retired from the Vienna
Philharmonic - has apparently moved from Vienna to Bloomington, Indiana,
and is offering lessons there. Quite a tribute to the quality of life
in Bloomington, to say the least. (This was in the latest issue of The
Clarinet, another institution everyone on this list should be subscribed
to.)

Ciao,

Bill E. (who is waiting with GREAT anticipation for the revival of the
digest format of this list).
