I play bass clarinet just often enough to have had this same problem with
instrument changes while having found no really good solutions (I usually
end up holding the bass, connected to a neck strap for when I'm actually
playing it, on my lap and trying to play the Bb or A instrument around it -
it gets worse when there's also a sax involved). Does either of these
stands actually hold the bass high enough to play while it's on the stand?
I have a bassoon stand that holds the instrument up very well, but the cup
the bell rests in is practically at floor level, making a peg impossible
when the instrument is on the stand and still not solving the problem of
quick changes.
