There's one spot where you have almost no time to switch. I have to rest
the Bass on my shoulder while playing Bb soprano. I'm borrowing a Bass
from someone's high school, so it doesn't have a peg and it didn't come
with a neck strap. My sax strap works, but I found the case ( as support )
works better.

I think some of the feeling of rushing also has to do with whoever is
conducting/directing the pit. There is no sympathy there for anyone who
has more than one instrument. Don't feel embarassed. I don't own a Bass
stand, but I think they cost about 80-90 dollars. It is a good idea to
have one ( I don't own a Bass so I don't want to spend that amount on a
stand, that's just me )
