Tonight I painted the butt of one of my reeds with nail polish and used it
at a rehearsal. It seemed
to play darker and with more resistance. It certainly was not detrimental
to the performance of the
reed. I am anxious to find out if it affects the longevity of the reed as
Fernando claims. I really
don't understand the principle behind this but I try everything that anyone
claims improves the
performance of a reed.
