Eric--
Check out Marko Tajcevic, Sieben Balkantanze (bearbeitet von A.
Srebotnjak), publ. by Schott's -- it might meet your criteria. I think
kids would like it -- it has an "oriental" flavor (is this P.C.?) with
interesting harmonies and rhythms, and ends with a bang. I think you would
find it moderately easy, despite a few mildly awkward fingerings in the
first dance and some interesting ensemble coordination problems in the
fifth. It runs about 10 minutes. I did it a few years ago at a chamber
concert and people (none of them kids, unfortunately) liked it a lot. So
do I. Good luck. (I have a short and rather obvious written analysis of
Dances I, V and VII; if you do it and want this, email me.)
Regards,
Gary

Subject: clar/cello/piano question
A query for all of you erudite repertoire persons out there - can anyone
suggest a moderately easy, light, _appropriate for a children's concert_
piece [original or arrangement] for clarinet, cello, piano trio? Even
arrangements of Joplin or such - any suggestions are very welcome.
thanks in advance.
