Thanks for the response. My clarinet has 6 rings, not 7. I'm pretty sure
that
most of the kids in my school band played Selmers although they might
have been
Bundys. No one else had the flattened style rings. I will be continuing
my
investigation of this instrument, and if I find out anything more, I'll
let
you know.

Incidentally, I'm sending this response to the list instead of privately
because
I'm curious to see if I get this message back from klarinet. I never
received
my original posting from klarinet, though it obviously got there because
both
Daniel and Thomas (reedman2@-----.
