Don't be sorry, Bob. We forgive everybody in advance for falaciously
asserting ironclad "truths" about fields of study where no such solid
or objectively defined information exists. That something happens to
be true for you is nice in itself, but no matter how many capital
letters or exclamation points you use, nobody else will be very much
convinced until you put forward some objective, bias-free evidence.
As yet, the jury is out on the subject of reed preparation methodology.
Thus, we're all left to our own means, continuing to use what works
best in our individual cases, based on our own experiences combined with
the tutelage of those under whose influence we've come over time.

Bully for you. Strong opinions backed up by a legion of elephants
doesn't make them any more factual. I would wager that even these
"others" to which you refer have different versions of what they
consider the truth on reeds, among other clarinet-related subjects.
We've seen quite a few "treatises" on Klarinet which outline members'
methods for working on their reeds -- with varying degrees of success.
Is your method unique? Share it with us in some detail so that we might
all benefit from yet another perspective and perhaps fashion an eclectic
reed routine which suits our particular needs.

Neil
