I have this recording and I don't think it is that great. I bought it

Doesn't Emma Johnson also perform the Scaramouche on Encores 2? It also
starts very abruptly. Is it possible that this is the way the piece is
written?

I have the music for Scaramouche and it does go right from the
beginning. It may be that the clarinet is just too soft in the
beginning to establish itself.

I have a saxophone recording of Scaramouche that is outstanding in all
respects.
