Yes, Gustave Langenus was an important clarinet pedagogue, and his
clarinet method books have been around for quite a few decades now.
I happen to have one of his mouthpieces - the "duckbill" feature you
inquired about refers to the concavity of the mouthpiece's beak.
To remedy this mildly uncomfortable feature (to accommodate my big
mouth - literally) I simply use a thick mouthpiece patch.
