I normally don't do CD reviews, but I'm making a short
exception here. I was lucky enough to receive a copy of
a new Lightwood Duo CD, featuring Mike Christiansen on
guitar and Eric Nelson (of Klarinet fame ;^) on clarinet.
The CD was provided by Eric as a little gift to me.

Being in a family with varied tastes (a 7 year old who
likes ragtime and collect B.B. King CDs, a 12 year old
who plays Chopin along with Ellington, my wife, who likes
pops, and me, somewhat eclectic if not eccentric) it's hard
to find a music collection that we all enjoy listening to.
On this CD we go through the gamut, with Faure's Sicilienne
sandwiched between Sweet Georgia Brown and St. Louis Blues
(the latter having a delicious vibrato in the clarinet -as
it should on this piece!). Some West Side Story in the
Bernstein medley. A little Chick Corea, some foot-stomping
bluegrass (with Eric on the bass clarinet swinging the low
end), some blues (Cottonwood Blues is a delight - good guitar
work by Mike along with Eric thinking that a bass clarinet
really should have strings - I think I heard a little slap
bass in there). It ends with O mio babbino caro, tidying up
the loose ends and letting the adrenaline rush fade a bit.

There's more on there, and no duds. The recording is clean,
and the price, at $15.00 including shipping and handling,

And no, Eric had no hand in this. I've never met him, he's
not paying me, and if I (and the family) didn't enjoy it you
