This isn't very helpful, but I have a present-day edition of the piano =
solo arrangement prepared by Gershwin himself, and it simply has a fast =
run notated where the glissando would occur. I suppose the piano =
equivalent of a glissando would be more of a sliding the hands over the =
keys (This is even called a glissando on piano), so maybe he really =
didn't write a gliss. Or maybe he just thought that would sound dumb on =
the piano, although he writes such a glissando for it late in the piece. =
I'm afraid that's about all I can offer on the subject. I guess what I'm =
saying is no, the piano score still does not have a glissando notated at =
the beginning.
