Hi Jonathan - I play a J & D Hite with a Harrison (Gold) ligature, and
have played this Mpc for about 18 years now! I like it very much! Before
that I played a Marconi "Special"4.5 which I still have, and before that a
"Chicago" Kaspar. I always try to get several 3-4 of the exact same
mouthpiece to try, and then select the best, most responsive one! This is
possible in a store, and now, even with catalogues (With Credit-Card)

I have Played the B45's & B45 Dot & at the Chicago "Midwest Band Clinic"
have heard the Vandoren Clinition talk about the differences etc. I've not
found one that I like better than the one that I now play, and Marconi is
dead, so I keep that as a "back-up".

With my students: I "suggest" and have them try & decide! I have
suggested the B45's because they are easily available, but I give them
choices.
My Father, who was my only teacher on Clarinet until college, did the same
for me - as that's how "I" learned how to select a good mouthpiece for
"me".
I like the Saying: "Give a man a fish, and you feed him for a day! Teach a
man to fish and you feed him for Life!"

Here's a good Catalogue to Order & look thru if you aren't near a Large
Store: "the WOODWIND & the BRASSWIND"
(800)348-5003 Address:19880 State Line Rd. South Bend, Indiana 46637
Order just the Woodwind Catalogue & I think you'll be happiest!

A teacher's suggestions are always valuable, but you need to decide for you!

Where is "SUNY New Paltz"???
