Hi all,
I am working on a couple of pieces and have a couple of questions.
I am working on a piece called Nocturne from Concerto in G minor Op.47 by
Thomas Verhey. The tempo is listed at 1/4 beat @-----. Is this sort of thing
written in stone? Is it musical blasphemy to play something slower (or
faster) than is written or is there room for interpetation? I only ask
because as I was learing the piece I played it slower, gradually moving the
tempo on the metronome up until reaching the prescribed tempo of 100. I
simply liked the way it sounded at a slower tempo.
Also I am learning a piece called Adagio from Concerto for Clarinet k. 622
W.A. Mozart. I have a couple of C.D.'s with this on it and the written score
that I have is not the same. The piece I have is from a book entitled
Concert and Contest collection for B flat clarinet. Rubank Ed. Lib #144 It
says right on the front that it was compiled and "edited" by H Voxman. Where
can I find a score that is "original" or not edited?
And by the way, does anyone know of a clarinetist named Bill (William?)
Castleman and if so how I can get in touch with him?
Thanks
Thomas Lankford
