I too have used the plastic Luyben lig but have never had it slip, I was
actually afraid to crank down to hard for fear of stripping the threads out.
(I'm always tighting things one turn to many) I am using a Rovner C-1 now
and it's o.k. although with some reeds it seems too stuffy and if it you push
it just a tad to far down the screw scratches your mouthpiece. ooppps. I
may switch back to the Luyben and crank er on down and see how it does.
