Subj: Chadash vent-tube operation?
Date: Wed, 26 Mar 1997 23:02:20 -0500

I know several orchestral clarinetists who have had Guy Chadash
raise their vent tube a few mm, thereby lowering the pitch of the
notes at the top of the clarion register. I don't mean lengthen
the vent tube. I mean he fills in the hole where the vent tube was
and bores a new hole something like 3 mm higher.
The RC and RC Prestige have this higher vent tube. Holding an RC A
beside an R-13 A one sees a huge difference.
Has anyone on the list had this operation done and what were the drawbacks
if any?
Thanks in advance.
