Scott,

I recently purchased a Rovner L10 bass clarinet ligature for $13.95 from
Zep's in Burbank, California for my Bb contrabass horn with a custom-faced
VITO mouthpiece. I love it! They had several different models and sizes
for bass clarinet but who knows what Rover has now. This is an old-line
store catering to studio musicians in Los Angeles.

About 10 years ago, I bought a similar ligature for my bass clarinet and was
disappointed -- wouldn't hold reeds tightly enough, lousy sound, mechanically
very poor. The difference is that the L10 I just bought has a hole in the
thumb screw thru which the tensioning rod is threaded and is identical in
design to the ligature I've used on my Bb soprano horn for 10 years before
Rovner had "light" and "dark". The ligature that is really bad has a
*one-piece* combination thumb screw/tensioning rod passing thru one the two
smaller metal rods and threaded into the other rod that hold the ends of the
ligature fabric.

Hope that helps. Pictures certainly would!
