Carolyn,
You might consider NEC as an alternative. Tom Martin, (and Richard
Stoltzman) teaches Clarinet there. One of my students are planning to study
with Tom next year at NEC for her Masters. Another one who is at Harvard
really likes Tom's teaching. The dean of NEC is Marcus Ely who was the
person who was integral in developing the Grand Concert line of reeds.
