Well, you can't beat long tones for improving tone quality, and even =
intonation. I find it especially helpful to do an extended =
crescendo-decrescendo pattern on the same note (pp to ff to pp) before =
moving to the next one. I've met many players who advocate a similar =
exercise. Of course, this too is something that should be done as part =
of daily individual practice, but I think the purpose of sectionals is =
to point players in the right direction for their individual practice. =
Other than that, all I can think of is having a discussion about =
equipment, especially reed/mouthpiece/ligature combinations, and making =
sure everyone has a setup conducive to good tone and intonation. Good =
