On the Oehler System (German System - a kind of very well-developed
Albert derivative with far more keys) which all five of us in the family
play we sometimes press the c2 key when playing c1 as this note tends to
be high. It would make g2 too flat to try however. Experimenting with
fingerings for the purpose of color is a fascinating hobby - the Oehler
clarinet has, for example, 5 different fingerings for c3, each having its
own unique color.
