Klarinet Archive - Posting 000803.txt from 1997/03
From: Mark Charette <charette@-----.COM> Subj: The International list Date: Mon, 24 Mar 1997 13:51:03 -0500
I received a mail message last night which reminded me about 3 or 4
people who left the Klarinet list. Their complaint was the lack of
international participation on the list; the list is too "U.S.
centric". I just did a quick check of the mail addresses of Klarinet
subscribers. Readily identifiable from the addresses are the countries
of:
Australia, Belgium, Brazil, Canada, Croatia, Denmark, Finland,
France, Germany, Iceland, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Japan, Luxembourg,
New Zealand, Norway, Portugal, Singapore, South Africa, Spain,
Sweden, Taiwan, The Netherlands, United Kingdom, and the U.S.A. .
There's no reason for the list being "U.S. centered" except by
silence.
Along the same lines, the announcements, retailers, and such on
sneezy are there because someone asked me to put them in, a list
was provided to me, or I read it on the Klarinet list or in a magazine.
If I get information submitted to me, from any source, it goes up
on the server without any regard to country of origin. Right now
people from the U.S., Japan, and the UK are directly working on sneezy
to try & keep the information current.
I for one would just LOVE to see some information on European and
Asian conservatories; I don't even know where to begin to look, and
being "centric" a bit in languages (my Latin is rusty and almost
useless and my Japanese pretty abysmal) I can't interpret the foreign
sites very well ;^(
Cheers,
