Jerry,
I know of no "urtext" for this piece but I have seen it in several
editions, including a couple of French ones (and they should know) and ALL
have the ending in the Stubbins book. The other one is a cute idea (if one
can nail double-high c's). Maybe I'll try it next time I perform the
piece. Since it IS a showpiece anyway, I see no reason not to shmaltz it
up and go for the super high note, original version or no.
