Nathaniel,

I noted your mention of Mr. Farrand's book on Star Trek. The
same audience might also be interested in the following:

An intriguing full-page review appeared a few weeks
ago in the L.A. Times on a book entitled, "The Physics of Star Trek," by
Lawrence Krauss (Basic Books Division of HarperCollins). I purchased the
book immediately and recommend it highly to all Trekkies.

Krauss, who is Professor of Physics and Astronomy at Case Western
Reserve University, has written an entertaining and informative critique of
the series, which is introduced with a Foreword by Stephen Hawking.

My only disappointment in the book is the lack of mention of one of the
crew members' able performance in outer space of a Brahms Clarinet
Sonata. But, then again, that's not "physics" ..... or is it?
