Lyn,
Each case is individual. In the case of my own R-13, the tuning
actually got BETTER after it was pinned! In some instruments, it is
detrimental to the bore and the instrument suffers. If the horn is good,
buy it. As for affecting the value, it does devalue the instrument a few
hundred dollars but really, now, does that matter to a committed player
who wants the best instrument?
