Scott,
I played bass clarinet in the all-state band. The ligeratures my school
had were awful. We ordered The Bonade inv, but while we waited for it we
made the best ligature I have ever played on--it was much better than the
Bonade inv.--very open.
We took a basic metal ligature with two screws (as comes with beginner
instruments) and with a wire cutter, cut rounded part off each end of a
large paper clip--leaving you two long, thin, straight wires. Then we
super-glued them to the back of the ligature, so it played as an inverted
ligature. We also did this for alto clarinet. They worked great
