Interesting question,

Like Gary, we had a lot of Pete Fountain records around. Also my parents
were old enough to have been real Big Band fans during WWII, so we we also
had the likes of Benny Goodman etc. and of all those I really liked Glenn
Miller. He lead his reed section with a clarinet. (now that's class)

Also when I was playing in a private marching band called the Weldonians in
San Leandro Ca. there was a kid named Billy Castleman who could really make
his horn talk. That really impressed me. (You out there Billy?)

I too am now a born again clarinetist after about 20 + years of not playing
and I really love it, more so than when I was a kid.
