I thought I had posted about Romain Guyot's NYC concert at the 92nd St. Y but
it didn't get through.
A real class act. Pure French through and through, this guy had gorgeously
refined technique and tone. He is currently principle with the Paris Opera,
at a very young age.
I understand he will be playing elsewhere, and may already have. You should
go if you get the chance. He played Martinu's Sonata wonderfully. He also
played Brahms' #1, Berg's four pieces, Schumann's Fantasiestucke and
Poulenc's Sonata.
Wonderful stage presence - court dance like movements. Superb accompianist
Emmanuel Strosser made the Brahms truly exciting.
I spoke with him afterwards - he uses the Buffet Festival A, and an RC
Prestige Greenline (? I didn't know they made this one in 'greenline'). He
uses a Vandoren B-40 mouthpiece.
I highly recommend you go to hear him if you get a chance. I understand he
may be playing in the Washington DC area. He may already have.
