Thanks to responding to this message, David, but it wasn't mine, it was
April Shallenberg's. Sometimes it gets hard sorting out the different
layers of messages. :)

But your point about the Bach flute pieces is good. I have performed (for
friends only) the unaccompanied sonata and love it. What edition is there
of the other flute sonatas? Other Bach transcriptions that might not have
been mentioned yet include the Langenus Chaconne (about 2/3s of the
variations) and Chromatic Fantasia (not the fugue!), both for unaccompanied
cl. Both publ. by Ensemble Music Press. Also, of course, the Voxman
"Classical Studies" discussed last month.

Also Southern Music publishes a transcription by Eric Simon of an
unaccompanied flute sonata by CPE Bach. It's got some quirky implied
harmonies and is fun to work on. CPE also wrote a number of flute/keyboard
pieces. Does anyone know if they've been transcribed for cl?
