Subj: rubbing alcohol on keys?

The keys on my clarinet are beginning to wear away. I was told that if I
apply rubbing alcohol onto the keys every so often it possibly could slow
the wearing down process. Have you ever heard of doing such a thing? Does it
work? Any other ideas? Thanks so much!
