Buffet does use Gore Tex pads on some models, as Roger mentioned. I just
found this out yesterday after I posed my original question. Go to

http://www.boosey.com/mi/buffet.html

and follow the link for the Prestige R13. The details are there. I still
haven't heard any first hand accounts about the Gore Tex pads, but I figure
Buffet must have done a lot of testing before they put the pads on one of
their top-of-the-line clarinets, right...?

Looks like my decision is now based on whether or not I want to spend the
extra $100 on the overhaul. Since the moisture really accumulates when I
play, I'm leaning toward the Gore Tex.
