I took up the Clarinet after 20 years of playing the recorder. So I was
familiar with a few of the fingerings (no mechanics, of course :) and totally
unfamiliar with a reed. I've been playing the Clarinet for a year now and
passed my grade 6 (6 out of 8 in the UK) in December. Unless you've still got
trouble remembering your Sax fingerings (which, after 3 years and in a band, I
doubt), go for it! You could always try hiring an instrument first and see how
you get on.

Playing the Clarinet? Never! :) Think of all the things you can do:

- Join the discussions about 'That nice dark sound'
- See if a Clarinet *can* be used as a drinking straw/light stand.
- And, if you want to have real fun, get an Oehler system Clarinet (like me) to
confuse your teacher.
