As a corollary to this: I joined klarinet a bit over a year ago
asking questions about clarinet playing/equipment and such to
help my son, not myself. The answers I got to my naive questions
were informative and hardly ever condescending. Since those early
days for me I ended up inheriting the Clarinet FAQ from Vic Freyer,
converted it to the Info pages, added databases for articles
and composition, and other stuff solely because the people on this
list are FUN to deal with! I've made "pen pal" buddies, got a
wonderful tour of Eastman and the Rochester area, and gained a
clarinet teacher for myself (I started clarinet recently) via this
list.

As just a bit of netiquette, however: posting private email without
permission is generally frowned upon.
