I am in need of a set-up for Bb clarinet( 1928 Buffet) that will allow
for great volume while still retaining good tone quality.
Suggestions for mpc and/or barrel combos are welcomed as is information
from custom makers who may care to respond to my email or the list.

The need arises out of big band work. No mics allowed in this setting.
Some have suggested a Selmer center tone as being a very loud
( projecting) clarinet. I get quite a bit volume from the Buffet, but
have to work very hard to be heard. Have sampled the following; Vandy
5JB, Bari BDF 2 and 3, John Pierce, HS**. Most of the "jazz" mpcs
sacrifice tone Q for a fuzzy&buzzy diffuse sound. The HS** had a good
tone but not as flexible and lots of back pressure. I'm fairly certain
that my throat is open and resonant as all the rest of my woodwind
family has good projection. I hope it's not a new$$ horn$$ fix$$.
Help ..I'm getting worn out on the clarinet parts.

Dave
