Subject: single reed oboe?

this thread, I'll ask if anyone ever heard of an oboe with clarinet-
type keywork...therefore with clarinet fingering. I suppose it might
be single reed, but the person who mentioned this didn't specify.
This person also was given to joshing me a bit, from time to time.
It could be the musical equivilant of a jackalope, for all I know.
Snipe hunting, anyone? (No, no...they don't really hunt snipe, they
just raise them for the snipe oil, which is used on squeeky minks.)

There was (maybe still is) such an animal as a "Boehm" system oboe,
apparently used to some extent in Spain. Couold this be what is referred
to here?
